Platonic luminary cut guide

Cut convention first

The sketch labels are ambiguous.

Choose whether Clove's labels describe the visible sketch spans or the true circumscribed diameter. Edge length, segment counts, and envelopes update from that choice before any cutting numbers are shown.

Two controls. Two different cuts.

For a flat wooden pentagon, turn the saw table to 36 degrees and keep the blade vertical. The 31.717 degree value belongs only to the optional 3D face-to-face bevel.

Long-point segments

  • Wear eye and ear protection before saw setup.
  • Clamp stock and use a stop block for repeat cuts.
  • Make one scrap test face before batch cutting.
  • Use rated 60 degree capacity or a purpose-built clamped jig for triangle cuts. Never freehand.
  • Use LEDs or low-voltage lighting only. No candles or hot incandescent lamps.
  • Provide ventilation, strain relief, and flame-rated diffuser material if enclosed.
  • Flat face-frame miters do not define 3D skeleton vertex hubs. Use engineered connectors or validated compound joints.
